A cast resin set of accessories for the Allied Kangaroo armored personnel carrier in 1:35 scale from the Czech maker Black Dog. It holds separate parts of equipment, cargo and tarpaulins with which the open infantry compartment is filled. As base kit it names the Kangaroo from Italeri. The set is not a model of the vehicle.
The Kangaroo was not a newly developed vehicle but a field conversion: the Allies removed the turret from a tank and an armored personnel carrier for infantry was the result. Canadian Ram tanks, the Priest self-propelled howitzer and Shermans were all used for it. The Kangaroo was introduced in 1944 by the British 79th Armoured Division, and units used them to carry infantry right behind the advancing tanks in northwest Europe.
First rinse the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove the mold release residue. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine-tooth saw rather than snapping them. Sanding is better done under water or with respiratory protection. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); solvent cement for plastic will not hold on resin. A primer is needed before painting. The inside of the body tends to be empty on a model, so it pays to lay out the equipment so that it covers the flat surfaces.
The accessory set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
