An etched metal decorative railing in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Black Dog, 25 cm in total length. The manufacturer offers it in its range of etched parts: the parts come on a flat fret, from which they are cut out and bent. It is not a model of a building or a machine but an architectural element that gives a scene its scale and fine detail.
A decorative railing finds a use at stairways, terraces, footbridges, embankments or balconies, that is anywhere a scene has a difference in height. A continuous length of 25 cm allows the part to be divided into shorter runs, so one package covers several spots. The main advantage of etching is its thickness: steel or brass sheet allows railings of dimensions that cannot be reached with a plastic casting, so the railing does not look coarse.
Carefully separate the etched parts from the fret with a sharp knife on a hard surface and make the bends over a sharp edge. The joints can be soldered or glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Degrease the surface before painting and spray a primer for metal, or the paint will not hold on the smooth brass sheet.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and further parts are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
