Resin Royal Navy deck tow tractors in 1:350 scale from the Czech maker Black Dog. They are small accessories for a model of an aircraft carrier or another vessel, with which the flight deck is populated. A model of the ship and of aircraft are not included in the package. The manufacturer does not state the number of pieces.
Deck tow tractors are among the most characteristic machines of an aircraft carrier. They are low, squat and exceptionally powerful, so that they can move aircraft about a cramped deck and tow them to the lifts and down into the hangars. It is the presence of such equipment that turns a ship model into a living vessel: an empty deck looks like a drawing, a deck with tractors, carts and crew like a working airfield at sea. In 1:350 scale the tractors are only a few millimeters long.
First rinse the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove the mold release residue. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine-tooth saw rather than snapping them. Sanding is better done under water or with respiratory protection. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); solvent cement for plastic will not hold on resin. A primer is needed before painting. With parts this small it is better to paint them while still on the casting block and cut them off last.
The accessory set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
