A decal sheet for models of reconnaissance Mosquitoes in 1:72 scale from the Czech brand DK Decals. This is not a kit but a separate set of decals with which you complete a model you already have. The sheet offers eleven marking options and covers three reconnaissance shapes of the type: the British PR Mk.I and PR Mk.IV and the American F-8.
The Mosquito was an all-wooden twin-engine aircraft whose speed took the place of defensive armament. The reconnaissance PR Mk.I was the very first version to enter operational service, in September 1941 with No. 1 Photographic Reconnaissance Unit; the unarmed machines went out over occupied Europe with cameras alone. The PR Mk.IV came about by converting the B Mk.IV bomber version. The F-8 designation belonged to Canadian-built Mosquitoes handed over to the US Army Air Forces, forty of which received reconnaissance equipment. On the sheet you will therefore find the British 1 PRU, No. 540 Squadron and the Film Production Unit as well as the American 3rd Photographic Group and 25th Bomb Group.
Apply the decals over a gloss surface, otherwise a matte film will show up underneath them. Cut them out as close to the artwork as you can, put a drop of decal setting solution under the decal and, once it is dry, give the whole a coat of matte or semi-gloss varnish. On the large invasion stripes and codes a soft brush and patience will help.
This is a separate decal sheet. The kit, paints and varnish are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
