The T158LL is the newest track of the M1 Abrams series of tanks. It differs from the older T158 type in its center guide: on the LL this is hollow, which reduces the weight of the track. The track was originally designed for the M1A2 SEP and today it is used on all versions of the Abrams. It is a track with rubber-metal pins, so neighboring links press against each other and the track sets itself at an angle in an unloaded run — which is exactly what a rigid injection-molded track cannot imitate.
First wash the parts in warm water with dish soap so that the mold release agent disappears from the surface. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc; do not break them. Protect your breathing while sanding, as resin dust is not to be inhaled. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) — ordinary cement for plastic will not bond resin. A primer coat is mandatory; without it paint will not hold on resin. Assemble the track in runs dry and lay it on the wheels only after it has set, so that it keeps a natural sag. Polish the running surface with graphite after painting.
