A plastic kit of the French postwar people's car in the large 1:24 scale. The package holds 101 parts, one decal option, a figure and a faithfully rendered engine and trunk. Alongside the plastic parts the package also holds rubber parts, decals and instructions for both building and painting. Boutique Edition is a designation on the packaging; check on the packaging what exactly this edition holds over the ordinary release.
The Renault 4CV was the car that put France back on wheels after the war. It was produced from August 1947 to July 1961 and over 1.1 million units of it were built. It thereby became the first French car to cross the million mark. It had its engine at the rear driving the rear wheels, which freed up unexpectedly much room inside for four passengers. For its rounded shape it earned the nickname motte de beurre, that is a pat of butter. It was produced not only in Boulogne-Billancourt but also in Spain, Belgium and Australia.
The engine is at the rear and is rendered in the kit, so finish it before you close the car up. The rounded surfaces of the body will not tolerate a rough base; spray the paint in thin coats. Handle the chrome strips and frames with polished foil; dry silver gives them away. The figure needs a mandatory primer, and in 1:24 layering with a brush pays off, as the face is the main surface. Determine the paint shade from pictorial reference.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
