The Phantom FG.1 was the British naval form of the American F-4, listed by its maker as the F-4K. Instead of J79 turbojets it received Rolls-Royce Spey turbofans, with them British avionics, a folding radar including its radome, enlarged blown flaps and a strengthened arrestor hook. The Spey had a larger diameter than the J79, so the fuselage had to be substantially reworked. With the Royal Navy the FG.1 flew above all with No. 892 Squadron from the deck of Ark Royal until 1978, after which the machines passed to the RAF.
If the belts are handled as 3D decals, they are not self-adhesive: they are moistened briefly on a sponge with a drop of dish soap, after about a minute they are lifted off the backing, seated with tweezers and bedded on a drop of white dispersion glue. The manufacturer does not recommend cyanoacrylate glue, and long submersion distorts the decal. Photo-etched belts are degreased before gluing, the folds are more accurate in a bending tool, and they are glued with cyanoacrylate or dispersion glue. Fit the belts before you close the canopy.
