An injection-molded plastic kit of the British BAe 146 regional airliner in 1:144 scale from the German manufacturer Revell. The box gives the series 200 and also refers to the later RJ85 version, with which the kit shares its basis, and the markings of the British carrier Air UK. The Model Set version adds the basic paints, a brush and glue to the model.
The BAe 146 is a four-engine jet airliner with the wing mounted above the fuselage, the tailplane on top of the vertical tail and the engines hung in nacelles under the wing. It was created for operation from short and less well equipped runways and also for airports with noise limits, which is why it was among the quietest airliners of its day. Four smaller engines instead of two large ones gave it a reserve of power on takeoff. The series 200 is the stretched version of the basic line; the type later gave rise to the Avro RJ family, to which the RJ85 belongs.
With airliners a smooth surface and clean panel lines decide the result, so fill and sand back the joints of the fuselage and the nacelles and spray in thin coats. White areas need a good base, otherwise the plastic shows through. Mask the glazing and the windows, lay the decals with the carrier lines into an intermediate gloss clear coat and once they are dry coat them over so that their edges do not show. Cement the landing gear only after painting.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. According to the manufacturer, the Model Set contains the basic paints, a brush and glue; other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
