Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the early Nordenfelt I submarine in 1:144 scale from Mikromir. The model captures the unusual shape of this pioneering vessel and is supplied as an unassembled and unpainted kit.
The Nordenfelt I was an experimental steam-powered submarine built in 1884 and financed by the Swedish industrialist Thorsten Nordenfelt to the design of a British engineer. On the surface it was driven by a steam engine; before diving the boiler was shut down and the vessel carried on for a limited time on the accumulated steam. Despite its novelty for the period it suffered from problems with stability and handling under water.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife or a fine saw, clean the joints and fill them. Spray the hull over a primer; metallic and dark shades with a light wash and a hint of corrosion work well. The model can be mounted on a stand for an effective display.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
