A kit figure of a modern soldier in 1:16 scale from the Ukrainian maker ICM. It is not a kit of a vehicle but a single figure that is assembled, filled and painted. Scale 1:16 is substantially larger than the usual 1:35, so the modeling of the face, the folds of the clothing and the small items of equipment all stand out. The figure suits a display case as a piece in its own right as well as an accessory to models of equipment in the same scale.
The subject is a member of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in contemporary field dress. Check the particular unit, the items of equipment and the armament on the box. The maker ICM is based in Ukraine and figures in 1:16 scale are one of its long-standing ranges.
Check the parts first with a dry fit and clean up the mold seams, which on figures are most visible across the face and the hands. Level the small gaps left after joining with filler and fine sandpaper. Apply a primer before painting, so that the later coats hold well and the relief stands out. Build the skin from a darker base toward lighter coats and finally bring out the edges. On the clothing, layering works well: a base shade, a darker wash into the folds and a lighter dry brush on the raised areas. In a larger scale a matte surface looks better, so keep gloss only where it belongs.
