Decals in 1:24 for the Hawker Hurricane - national markings, early variation 1 is a sheet of national markings on their own, that is roundels and fin flashes. There are no markings of a particular machine and no technical stencils in the package.

A sheet of national markings on their own for the Hurricane in its early form: roundels for the fuselage and the wing, and a fin flash. It is not a sheet with the markings of a particular machine and these are not technical stencils, so do not look on it for code letters, serial numbers or service lettering. The manufacturer divides the markings into separate sheets precisely so that a modeler can put together only what is needed: the markings of particular aircraft are in the ADD24007 range, and the technical stencils for the Hurricane are on the separate sheet ADD24S104. Watch the distinction within the range: early variation 2, ADD24C104-2, covers a later period and the markings differ between the two sheets.
In the early phase of the war the RAF carried a Type A1 roundel on the fuselage, that is a red, white and blue circle with a broad yellow outer ring, which was to set the marking apart from the dark camouflage. On the upper surface of the wing, by contrast, a Type B roundel was used, made up only of red and blue, so that the machine would be less noticeable from the air. This combination is typical of the early Hurricanes and is easily overlooked; the model then looks like a different period from the one you are building.
A decal is applied with water: it is slid into place and settled with a decal fixer. On riveted and curved surfaces a decal softener is added, after which the film is pliable and must not be touched. A smooth gloss coat belongs under a decal, otherwise the edge of the film will go white; once it is dry, varnish the whole thing over.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
