The Aviaeology AOD24S03 decal sheet in 1:24 scale carries technical and maintenance airframe stencils for the Hawker Typhoon Mk.I. These are not national insignia or the markings of a particular machine.

A sheet from the Airframe Stencil Data series: its content is the technical and maintenance stencil markings for the Hawker Typhoon. Roundels, squadron codes and serial numbers are not on it - the manufacturer lists the national insignia for the same type in the same scale under the part number AOD24C08. The sheet carries stencils including the variants introduced in production and those added at the units, and it covers all finishes of the Typhoon; the content is enough for one model in 1:24 scale. A placement sheet printed on both sides belongs with it, showing the position of every stencil and distinguishing what was usual from what was an alternative.
Maintenance stencils are the small notices on an airframe: filler points, access panels, warnings or places that must not be stepped on and where a support belongs. On the real aircraft they were applied in the workshops and at the units, so their extent and their form differed from machine to machine; that is why the sheet offers variants. In 1:24 scale the stencils are easy to read and their absence is conspicuous on a large model - and the Typhoon also has a sizeable wing and fuselage, where there is a great deal of small marking.
Decals are not applied with modeling cement. They go onto dried gloss varnish, are seated with water and a decal fixer and, on broken surfaces, with a decal softener, so that the film follows the rivets and panel lines. Cut the individual markings out close to the artwork. Apply the stencils only after the national insignia and the codes. Compare the placement with the placement sheet and, for doubtful markings, with a photograph of the machine.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
