An injection-molded plastic kit of a Formula 1 single-seater in 1:24 scale. It is the Model Set edition, that is a complete set: besides the plastic sprues the box holds a set of modeling paints, a brush and cement. The box states rubber tires, turning wheels, a well broken-up cockpit and decals for three Grands Prix of the 2010 season.
The MP4-25 was the car with which the McLaren team entered the 2010 Formula 1 season. It ran in Vodafone colors and was powered by a Mercedes-Benz engine. Lewis Hamilton started with race number 2, and his team-mate was Jenson Button, who as the defending champion carried number one. The car was recognizable by the air intake led high above the driver's head, and it raced in the first season in which refueling during a race was no longer allowed; the cars therefore started with a full tank and were given a longer wheelbase.
A Formula 1 car stands or falls on clean surfaces, because the body is glossy and every irregularity shows on it. Sand the mold seams down with fine paper and even the surfaces out with a filler primer before painting. Apply thin cement for plastic sparingly and preferably from the underside of the parts. The extensive sponsor decals hold best on a gloss base; once they have dried, clear coat over them so that the edges of the carrier film do not show.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The set holds paints, a brush and cement; other accessories are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
