An injection-molded plastic kit of the Citroën 2CV in the special Charleston trim, in 1:24 scale from the German manufacturer Revell. The set comes in the Model Set edition: besides the sprues with the parts, the decals and the manufacturer's instructions it also encloses basic paints, a brush and cement for polystyrene. For this set the manufacturer states decals with the registration plates of several European countries.
The Citroën 2CV, popularly nicknamed the duck, is one of the most distinctive cars in European history. It was created as a car for the countryside that could carry a load over a broken road, and it stayed in production for more than forty years. It had an air-cooled two-cylinder engine, long wheel travel and a canvas roll-back roof. The Charleston trim from the 1980s is the best known of the special versions: a two-tone finish with separated areas in the spirit of interwar elegance turned it into a fashionable car that is collected today.
The two-tone finish is the heart of the Charleston and at the same time the most demanding step. Spray the lighter shade first, let it harden thoroughly and then mask exactly to the scheme in the instructions. Peel the tape off after spraying while the paint is only touch-dry, otherwise it will tear the edge away. Degrease the body before painting and lay down a primer coat. Finish the interior and the chassis before you close the body up, and set the canvas roof apart with a matte surface so that it does not look like sheet metal.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. In the Model Set edition the basic paints, the brush and the cement are part of the package, other accessories are not.
