An injection-molded plastic kit of the racing Ford GT in 1:24 scale from the German manufacturer Revell. The set comes in the Model Set edition: besides the sprues with the parts, the decals and the manufacturer's instructions it also encloses basic paints, a brush and cement for polystyrene. The manufacturer identifies the set as the 2017 endurance car, so the decals match the racing and not the road version.
The second-generation Ford GT is a low two-seat coupe with a composite body and the engine mounted behind the crew. Against older supercars it does not rely on displacement but on a turbocharged six-cylinder and on aerodynamics: the striking tunnels that lead air through the rear fenders are its signature. The endurance version was created for Ford's return to Le Mans half a century after the victory of the legendary GT40, and it differs from the road car in its wide fenders, a large rear wing and full racing equipment.
On a racing car in 1:24 the paint and the decals decide the result. Degrease the body before painting, lay down a primer coat and spray the color in thin layers, ideally from an airbrush. Once it has dried comes a gloss clear coat, then the large sponsor decals and finally a top clear coat that hides their edges. Finish the interior, the frame and the engine before you close the body up. Mask the windows and bond them with glue for clear parts, because ordinary polystyrene cement would fog them.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. In the Model Set edition the basic paints, the brush and the cement are part of the package, other accessories are not.
