A plastic kit of the best-known freighter of the Star Wars film saga in 1:241 scale. The manufacturer is the German company Revell and it is a Model Set edition: besides the sprues with the parts, the decals and the instructions the package also holds a basic set of paints, a brush and glue. The kind of paints supplied is stated on the box. The set has only about two dozen parts and the finished model measures around ten centimeters, so it belongs among the smallest and quickest kits of this subject.
The Millennium Falcon is a modified light freighter that in the films serves smugglers and later the rebels. Its shape is what stands out: a circular hull with a deep notch at the front, the cockpit moved over to the right side and two forked arms. That very asymmetry makes it one of the most recognizable film ships of all. In the stories it is known more for breaking down and for improvised repairs than for elegance — and that is exactly what modelers enjoy capturing.
The parts are large and simple, so the build takes a single evening. The painting decides the most: lay the base light gray finish over the whole surface and let it dry. Then suggest the panels, the hatches and the scorched areas by the engines with a darker paint — on a model this small, less does more than much. A dry brush on the edges and a dark wash run into the grooves will give the look of a worn ship. Choose the thinner according to the kind of paints stated on the box.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. With the Model Set edition the basic paints, a brush and glue are, according to the manufacturer, part of the package; other accessories are not.
