Responsibility details are not available.
Injection-molded plastic kit of the carrier-based A-1D Skyraider attack aircraft in 1:32 scale. The finished model has a span of about 48 centimeters and a length of over 36 centimeters, so it is a large piece for the display case. According to the manufacturer, the package holds clear parts, tires, decals and a photo-etched part for the seat belts; a pilot figure is not included.
The Douglas Skyraider was a single-engine piston attack aircraft that came too late for the Second World War, yet it became a legend of the Korean and Vietnam wars. A Wright radial engine of over two thousand horsepower and a deep fuselage let it carry a load on its pylons that only bombers had carried before, and to loiter over the target for hours. That made it the ideal machine for close support of ground troops and for covering rescue operations. In 1962 the Korean War AD-4 version was redesignated A-1D.
The radial engine is visible in detail at this scale, so it is worth spending time on it and routing the ignition harness according to the instructions. Paint and fit the cockpit before you close the fuselage, and mask the canopy. The dark blue naval finish needs a smooth base, so do not skimp on sanding and filler primer after the putty work. Lay out the pylons and the stores dry first, so that the load does not end up overcrowded.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
