A plastic kit of the French supersonic fighter Dassault Mirage IIIC in the large 1:32 scale from the Italian brand Italeri. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted, and glue and paints are not included in the package. In 1:32 scale the finished model has a striking size and offers plenty of room for additional detailing of the cockpit and the gear bays.
The Mirage III was the first Western European aircraft capable of twice the speed of sound. Its characteristic delta wing with no horizontal tail surfaces gave it high speed and a simple structure, in exchange for a long takeoff run and a large loss of performance in maneuvers. The IIIC version was the interceptor, with a radar in the nose and the Atar engine. Besides the French Air Force it was used by Israel, Switzerland and South Africa, and the Israeli machines made their name in the Six-Day War.
Glue the plastic parts with a thin cement for plastic, which melts the joint, and apply a thin layer into the seam with a fine brush. Fill and sand the seams, then spray the whole model with a primer, which will reveal any remaining grooves. Decals hold best over a gloss intermediate coat, and a matte clear coat pulls the result together. The cleanest color transitions come from an airbrush; when spraying by hand, apply the paint in several thin coats rather than one heavy one.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
