A model of the Czechoslovak single-seat aerobatic aircraft Zlin Z-50 LS in 1:32 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Zlin Z-50 is a single-seat aerobatic aircraft from the works at Otrokovice, developed in the 1970s purely for sport flying. It has a low wing, fixed tailwheel landing gear and a sturdy airframe that stands up to the repeated loads of an aerobatic routine. The version with the letter L received an American piston engine. Machines of this family made their name at international aerobatic contests and flew outside Czechoslovakia as well, often in striking sporting color schemes.
The 1:32 scale is a rewarding one for sport aircraft: the machine is small in itself, so the model stays a comfortable size and still carries fine detail. The landing gear struts, the exhausts and the shape of the canopy all stand out, the very features that merge together in smaller scales. There is also a good view into the cockpit of an aerobatic machine, so its interior is worth spending time on.
Wash and degrease the parts before painting so that the paint holds. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and carefully sand the remainder down. Sporting schemes tend to be colorful and crisp boundaries between the areas matter in them, so it pays off to spray in layers and mask the boundaries. The specific build sequence and the recommended shades are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
For builders of civil and sporting aircraft and for collectors of Czech aviation subjects. Paints, glue and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
