This is not a vehicle model but a detail accessory: a precisely turned metal gun barrel from Aber. It replaces the plastic barrel of the model with a perfectly straight metal part with the correct wall thickness and a clean bore. It is intended for models of the Sd.Kfz.186 Jagdtiger heavy tank destroyer in 1:35 scale. The set is designed for the Takom kit.

The real subject

The Jagdtiger was the heaviest tank destroyer put into series service in the Second World War, armed with the powerful 128 mm PaK 44 L/55 gun. The long, massive barrel is the dominant feature of the vehicle; a metal replacement removes the mold seams and any bending of the plastic and looks perfectly straight.

Usage tips

Degrease the metal barrel and bond it with super glue (cyanoacrylate) or with a two-part adhesive; ordinary cement for plastic will not hold on metal. Before painting, apply a primer suitable for metal for adhesion. Pick out the muzzle and the bore with a dark shade and smoke weathering.
