A turned metal barrel of the American half-inch heavy machine gun in the heavy-barrel form, in 1:35 scale. It is not a model but a replacement part. A machine gun of this class stands almost always on the turret roof of an armored vehicle, so it is seen from every side, and a plastic part with a parting line and a solid tip shows at once on a finished model.
Drill the opening in the body of the machine gun to the diameter of the shank, so that the barrel seats concentrically. It is glued with super glue. Degrease the part before painting and lay down a primer, or the paint will not hold on the smooth metal. Paint the machine gun separately and fit it at the end of the build, once the model is no longer being handled. The barrel is usually matte black with metal wear on the edges and heat discoloration near the muzzle.
A machine gun looks livelier when it is not pointing exactly forward. A slight turn to the side suggests that somebody was manning it a moment ago.
The set contains the metal barrel only. Glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
