A desert scene has one treacherous quality: it looks empty if the terrain has no structure. That is precisely why a finished casting with a worn road is a good groundwork. The surface carries irregular ripples of drifted sand, the edges of the ruts and small stones, so that after painting it does not look like a smooth plate sprinkled with sand. The base is supplied unpainted and it is not a vehicle kit.
The package contains one cast base plate in 1:35 scale with a worn road in sandy terrain. A vehicle, figures, paints and glue are not included. The surface is ready for painting and nothing has to be assembled.
Wash the casting in lukewarm water with a detergent, let it dry and prime it. The desert is not one single color: lay lighter as well as darker patches over the basic sandy tone, otherwise the area looks artificial. Make the worn ruts a shade darker, because the sand there is compacted and damper. At the end, dust the area with a light pigment and apply the same pigment to the lower part of the vehicle as well, so that the model and the base look like one whole.
The base is supplied unpainted. A vehicle, figures, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
