A set of injection-molded plastic figures in 1:35 scale on the theme of the American Civil War from the Ukrainian brand ICM. It is not a model of a vehicle or a building; they are figures of soldiers from which you build a scene of fighting. The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted and offers itself as a ready basis for a diorama, to which you only add the base, the terrain and the vegetation.
The American Civil War ran from 1861 to 1865 and for the modeler it is interesting above all for the way it brought older tactics of close infantry formations together with already fairly accurate small arms. The uniforms of both sides were woolen, simple in cut and quick to fade in the field, which on the contrary makes painting easier: you play with the shades of one tone rather than with bright colors.
With plastic figures the time given to preparation pays off. Clean up the mold seams on the arms, legs and hats carefully, fill and sand the joints of the shoulders and the head, otherwise you will see them once painted. It is often more comfortable to paint the hands and the weapons separately and to glue them on at the end. Run the painting from a filling primer through the base tone of the uniform to the shadows and dry brushing. Leave the skin until last. The whole scene is only brought together by flat varnish and a weak filter, which takes the plastic cleanliness away from the uniforms.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, a base and diorama accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
