An injection-molded plastic kit of the German heavy anti-aircraft gun 8.8 cm Flak 41 in 1:35 scale from Bronco, with crew figures. It is a stand-alone gun on a carriage, not a vehicle. In this line Bronco is known for finely broken-down parts, so the set offers a high level of detail.
The Flak 41 was the peak of the German 88s: compared with the earlier Flak 18 and Flak 36 it had a markedly longer barrel, a higher muzzle velocity and a lower silhouette, with the carriage set closer to the ground. It reached production late, though, and only a few hundred were built, so the older versions went on carrying the main burden. The gun was mounted on a cruciform carriage, which the crew lowered to the ground, and for a move it was loaded onto a two-wheeled bogie. Besides air defense, the 88s proved themselves as a highly effective anti-tank weapon.
Cut the small parts of the cruciform carriage off with a sharp knife right on the sprue and glue them with a thin cement for plastic. Decide at the start whether you will build the gun in a firing position with the carriage lowered or on its transport bogie. Assemble and paint the gun separately and take care that all the bearing points sit down on the base. Seat the long barrel on the center line and drill the muzzle out if it is not open. Clean the seam lines off the figures, paint the face and hands separately and seat them right at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
