This individual figure from the range of the Italian brand Royal Model captures a member of a tank crew in a moment of calm away from combat. The relaxed pose assumes that you will settle the figure on a crate, a fender, a low wall or simply in the shade beside the vehicle.
For the crews, the war in Italy in 1944 meant long hours of waiting between moves. The vehicles stood camouflaged in olive groves and beside village buildings, and the men kept close by and used the shade. A figure in a resting pose therefore looks more natural in a scene than one caught in action: it gives the picture its pace and gives the viewer a clue to the size of the vehicle without drawing attention to itself.
Remove the parting line with a scalpel held flat, and only then reach for fine sandpaper. Fill any small bubbles with putty and sand them back. For a stronger joint, drill the arm and insert a short piece of wire. The uniform is rewarding to build up in oils: they dry slowly, so the transitions can be blended directly on the figure and the shade can be adjusted even hours later.
The casting is supplied unpainted and in parts to be glued. Paints, glue and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
