The Zrínyi II, Hungarian 40/43M self-propelled howitzer of 105 mm caliber is a plastic kit of the Hungarian self-propelled assault gun in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Hungarian self-propelled howitzer Zrínyi II, officially the 40/43M, with a 105 mm howitzer, in 1:35 scale from Bronco. It is the most significant combat vehicle of Hungarian manufacture and a very unusual modeling subject.
The Zrínyi II was built on the chassis of the Hungarian medium tank Turán. In place of a turret it received a low fixed superstructure with a short 105 mm howitzer, intended for direct fire support of the infantry against fortifications — the same concept, then, as the German StuG III assault gun. Only about forty vehicles were built and they were committed to the defense of Hungary at the end of the war, where they proved to be the most effective Hungarian armored equipment. The planned anti-tank version Zrínyi I with a long gun stayed at the prototype stage.
Assemble and paint the inside of the fighting compartment and the howitzer first, before you close the superstructure up; with enclosed self-propelled guns that is the only way to get at the interior. Assemble the Turán type running gear according to the instructions and check that both sides are at the same height. A short howitzer of large caliber is conspicuous, so drill the muzzle out if it is not open. The Hungarian three-color camouflage is best sprayed field by field with a slight transition.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
