A 3D-printed resin set of interlocking paving in 1:35 scale from GINGER CAT. The manufacturer gives forty pieces in the package and describes the pattern as I Dumble, that is a shape resembling the letter I or a dumbbell, which locks together. In the same sub-line the manufacturer also lists square and zigzag paving, so a choice can be made according to the character of the scene.
In an urban diorama the paving is what decides the whole impression, because it takes up the largest area. The I-shaped interlocking pattern is typical of more recent work on public spaces, so it places a scene in the last few decades, whereas square and zigzag paving reads differently. Forty pieces are enough for a smaller area or for the edge of a roadway; when laying them it pays to leave irregular joints between the pieces and then to fill them in with pigment.
3D-printed parts are small and brittle: separate them with a fine-tooth saw or with nippers and level the remains of the print supports with a fine file. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); solvent cement for plastic does not hold. Before painting, spray a thin coat of primer, as a heavy coat would drown the detail.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
