A turned metal barrel of the Israeli 105 mm M-68 tank gun in 1:35 scale from the Polish brand Aber, intended for models of the Tiran 4 Sh tank.
Responsibility details are not available.
An add-on turned barrel from the Polish manufacturer Aber for plastic kits of the Israeli Tiran 4 Sh tank in 1:35 scale. It is not a tank model but a replacement part for the gun armament, which takes the place of the plastic barrel from the base kit. The metal version removes the lengthwise seam as well as inaccuracies of shape, both of which are clearly visible on a long barrel.
Tiran 4 is the designation for captured Soviet T-54 family tanks, which Israel repaired after the fighting of the 1960s and took into its own service. In a later phase some of the vehicles were rearmed with the Western 105 mm M-68 gun, which was the Israeli counterpart of the widespread gun used on Western-built tanks. This modernization meant a common ammunition supply with the other Israeli tanks and also showed in external changes to the vehicle, including a different barrel, a fume extractor and additional stowage boxes.
Degrease the metal part with alcohol before painting. It is bonded with super glue, and on a larger seating surface two-part epoxy is more suitable. Try the seating in the turret dry; on some kits the opening in the mantlet has to be slightly adjusted. Use a primer intended for metal. Vehicles deployed in desert terrain take a more pronounced dusty patina, which is easily built up with pigments and applied from the lower areas upward.
This is an add-on part, not a complete tank model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
