The box states a metal gun barrel and metal breech parts, so the most demanding part of the weapon has an accurate shape. The gun can be built in the firing position with the trail arms spread and in the travel position behind a tractor.
The leFH 18 was the main artillery weapon of German divisions throughout the Second World War. It entered service in the mid-1930s and proved itself by reliability and accuracy; it was this gun that formed the backbone of infantry fire support. The weapon was towed both by horse teams and by half-track tractors, and during the war it went through changes that cut its weight and added a muzzle brake. The howitzer served on every front and long after the war in the armies that inherited it.
Decide in advance whether you are building the gun ready to fire or hitched up, because that changes the position of the trail arms and the wheels. Glue the metal barrel with cyanoacrylate glue. Leave the thin shield and sight parts on the sprue as long as possible so that they do not warp. Dark gray suits the beginning of the war, dark yellow the later years; light wear on the edges and dust on the wheels will bring the gun to life. Set up on a patch of terrain with a crew it stands out more than on its own.
