An injection-molded plastic kit of the modern German armored vehicle Dingo 2 in the A3.3 PatSi version, that is, a patrol and security vehicle, in 1:35 scale. The manufacturer is the German company Revell. It is a Model Set edition, so besides the sprues with the parts, the decals and the instructions the package also holds basic acrylic paints, a brush and glue — the manufacturer names both of these explicitly for this set. Watch the extent of it, though: the set has over two hundred parts, so for an absolutely first model in a lifetime it is a demanding choice.
The Dingo 2 belongs to the group of vehicles in which protection of the crew is the main design requirement — even its German abbreviated designation speaks of an all-round protected transport vehicle. The armored cab sits on the chassis of an off-road truck, so the vehicle has kept its cross-country ability and the long travel of its wheels. The A3.3 PatSi version is adapted for patrol and security duty and it has served on foreign deployments since the beginning of the last decade.
Assemble and paint the chassis with the axles and the inside of the cab first; once the armored body is seated you will not reach them. The large smooth areas of the body are rewarding, but put the supplied acrylic paints on in thin coats and let each of them dry — they are thinned with water or with the same manufacturer's acrylic thinner. A sandy desert or a three-color European finish comes to life with a lighter shade dry-brushed on the edges. Dust from pigments belongs on the wheels and the belly; leave the upper surfaces cleaner.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. With the Model Set edition the basic paints, a brush and glue are, according to the manufacturer, part of the package; other accessories are not.
