1:35 Field gendarmerie NCO is a figure of a German military policeman from the Italian brand Royal Model, suitable for rear-area and front-line scenes alike.

The Feldgendarmerie was the military police of the German armed forces, and this figure from Royal Model represents one of its non-commissioned officers. In 1:35 reduction it suits scenes that need someone directing traffic at a crossroads, checking papers or guarding a column. The manufacturer offers it as one separate figure.
The field gendarmerie was formed at the start of the war from policemen as well as soldiers and looked after order in the rear, traffic, prisoners and the search for stragglers. Its most striking mark tended to be the crescent-shaped metal gorget worn on a chain across the chest, after which soldiers nicknamed the gendarmes chain dogs. Further marks were the orange branch color on the collar tabs, a lettered armband and a police badge on the left sleeve. A non-commissioned officer, that is an Unteroffizier, usually commanded a small patrol of a few men.
The metal gorget is painted differently from cloth: a base of dark metal, then fine polishing of the edges and finally a thin dark accent into the relief of the lettering. The orange piping is small but catches the eye, so it has to be clean. The rest of the uniform stays in field gray and gains credibility when dust from the road is added.
