The Pz.Kpfw. III Ausf. A (Sd.Kfz. 141) is a plastic kit of the very first production version of the German medium tank in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Panzer III medium tank in the Ausf. A version in 1:35 scale from Bronco. It is the very first production form of the type, and its running gear differs strikingly from the later and far better known versions. Bronco is known in this line for a fine parts breakdown, so the kit offers a high level of detail but calls for patience.
The Panzer III was the main German tank of the first half of the war, but its oldest Ausf. A version is unusual in that it did not yet have the running gear the type is known for. Instead of six small road wheels on torsion bars it carried only five large wheels on coil springs on each side — an arrangement that did not prove good in service and that production quickly abandoned. Only about ten Ausf. A vehicles were built and they served for trials rather than in combat, so this was a pre-production evaluation batch that does not find its way into ordinary kits.
The running gear with five large wheels and coil springs is the main thing about this form, so assemble it carefully and always check that both sides sit at the same height. Finish and paint the inside of the hull and the running gear before you close the hull up. Cut the small parts off with a sharp blade and glue them with liquid cement for plastic. Early German vehicles wore dark gray with no camouflage, which takes a pronounced edge highlight with a dry brush; without it the finish looks flat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
