An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Panzer III medium tank in the Ausf. M version, complemented with side anti-shaped-charge shields, in 1:35 scale. The shields are characteristic of this form, because they cover the running gear as well as the sides of the turret and markedly change the silhouette of the vehicle.
The Panzer III was the main German medium tank of the first half of the war. The Ausf. M version was among the last combat forms with the long 5 cm gun and differed, among other things, in the modifications for fording and in the stowage of the equipment. The thin side shields began to be fitted so that they would burst an anti-tank round prematurely, before it struck the armor itself. They were cheap, they were easily damaged, and in period photographs they are therefore often buckled or missing altogether.
Finish and paint the running gear before you attach the shields; afterwards you will not get at it. The shields look more convincing if their corners are bent slightly or one of them is left off, exactly as it looked in the field. German camouflage with soft transitions comes out best at low pressure and a small working distance. Run a dark wash into the recesses and earthy pigments onto the track pads.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
