An Aber turned metal barrel in 1:35 scale for the Soviet 76.2 mm L-11 tank gun, which armed the early T-34 model 1940 tanks. The detail accessory replaces the plastic barrel from the kit; the model itself is not included in the package.
The T-34 was among the most important tanks of the Second World War. Its first production vehicles of 1940 carried a 76.2 mm gun designated the L-11, markedly shorter than the later F-34 gun, with which most T-34 tanks were rearmed during 1941 already. Early vehicles with the L-11 gun therefore differ from later machines at first glance in their substantially shorter barrel and in a different solution of the installation in the turret front. They are among the most interesting versions of the T-34 from the opening period of the fighting on the Eastern Front.
The set replaces the plastic barrel from the kit. Cut off the original part, level the surface and try the metal barrel dry first, so that both the axis and the depth of insertion sit right. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue or epoxy; plastic cement does not work on metal. Degrease the metal before spraying and undercoat it with a primer for metal. The advantage of a turned part is a precisely drilled muzzle and a perfectly straight barrel with no mold seam that would have to be laboriously sanded.
This is a supplementary detail set for modelers, not a kit. The model itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
