The barrel of the Soviet 115 mm U-5TS (2A20) tank gun for the T-62 is a turned metal Aber detail set in 1:35 scale. It is not a tank kit but a replacement barrel.

This turned metal barrel from the Polish manufacturer Aber in 1:35 scale replaces the plastic barrel part of the Soviet T-62 medium tank. The metal part is machined on a lathe, it has no mold parting seam, it holds an exactly round cross-section and it has a drilled muzzle, so sanding and filling plastic halves is unnecessary. The set serves as an accessory to a kit and does not include the vehicle model.
The T-62 was a Soviet medium tank of the 1960s that followed on from the proven T-54 and T-55 family but received a longer hull and a new turret. It went down in the history of technology above all as the first series-produced tank in the world to carry a smoothbore gun. The U-5TS gun, also designated 2A20, had a caliber of 115 mm and fired sub-caliber and shaped-charge rounds at high muzzle velocity. The tank served in many armies and took part in a number of conflicts in the second half of the 20th century.
The turned barrel is fitted in place of the plastic part, which usually has to be cut off, with the hole in the mantlet or shield carefully opened up with a round file. It is bonded with super glue or two-part epoxy, and on heavier parts it is worth reinforcing the joint. Degrease the metal with alcohol before painting and apply a primer, otherwise the paint holds poorly. We recommend blackening the barrel muzzle and giving the inside a light matting; the outer surface takes gentle drybrushing with a metallic pigment and wear around the muzzle well.
