1:35 Soviet T-28E Medium Tank is a plastic kit of the Soviet three-turret medium tank with applique armor in 1:35 scale from Hobby Boss.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded kit of the Soviet three-turret medium tank in its reinforced form, which you can tell from the basic T-28 at a glance: additional armor plates are welded onto the turret and the hull, giving the vehicle an angular, mismatched look. The mold captures the main turret with two smaller machine gun turrets at the front, the long running gear covered by side skirts and the rich external equipment.
The T-28 was among the first medium tanks in the world and was designed as infantry support for breaking through fortified positions. The Winter War with Finland in 1939 and 1940, however, showed that its armor was no match for Finnish anti-tank artillery. The answer was a modification known as ekranirovanie: further steel plates were welded onto the turret and the hull, creating the version designated T-28E. The main turret carried a 76.2 mm gun, in the later machines in the L-10 version, and both smaller turrets held 7.62 mm DT machine guns. With the increased weight the vehicle became even slower and by 1941 it was no longer a match for German equipment.
The applique plates are the main theme of the model, so do not spare time on getting them to sit accurately and on suggesting the welds. Thinned putty will give the weld beads a convincing shape. Finish the running gear before you close the hull and fit the turrets only after spraying. Lighten the 4BO green on the upper surfaces, darken the recesses with a wash and concentrate the pigments under the skirts and on the lower hull.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
