1:35 T-72AV, Ukrainian tank is a plastic kit of the T-72A tank with Kontakt-1 explosive reactive armor from Amusing Hobby. The package also holds photo-etched parts and clear parts.

An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale. To the plastic sprues the manufacturer adds photo-etched parts, clear parts and link-and-length tracks, a solution in which the straight runs are glued in one piece and the curved ones link by link. The boxing came out in 2024 and builds the Ukrainian T-72AV, that is the version with explosive reactive armor fitted. Neither the number of parts nor the list of markings is stated here.
The T-72AV comes from the T-72A tank and differs from it mainly in the blocks of Kontakt-1 explosive reactive armor on the front of the hull, on the turret and on the sides. The letter V in the designation refers precisely to that explosive layer. Kontakt-1 works against shaped-charge rounds: the charge in the block detonates and throws the cover plates against the penetrating jet, so that penetration drops considerably. Against sub-caliber armor-piercing rounds, however, this protection does not help. The armament stays the same as on the T-72A, that is a gun of 125 mm caliber with an autoloader and a crew of three. T-72AV tanks are in service with the Ukrainian army and are used in the current fighting as well.
Finish and paint the running gear and the interior of the hull while the hull is open; later a brush will no longer reach in there. Glue the blocks of reactive armor according to the instructions and check the spacing, as irregularity shows at once. Assemble the tracks before varnishing and let them sag between the rollers. After the base shade apply a filter or a glaze, then a wash into the recesses and finally dust pigments on the running gear and the lower part of the hull.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
