About product

1:35 Type AG 1910 London Taxi (ICM)

Injection-molded plastic kit of a civilian car in 1:35 scale, that is in the same scale in which military vehicles and most figures are built. The package represents the London form of the Type AG of 1910. The maker is the Ukrainian firm ICM, which has long focused on small historic vehicles and on figures. The model shows to advantage in a display case as a piece on its own and as the centerpiece of a street scene alike.

The real subject

The Type AG is a light car from the French brand Renault of the early 20th century. The car became famous as a city taxi: it has a tall wheel track, wire wheels, an open driver's position and an enclosed cabin for the passengers, an arrangement typical of the taxi trade of the day. Cars of this type ran in large numbers before the First World War not only in France but also in London, where they became part of the image of the city. A characteristic feature is the sloping hood with the radiator placed behind the engine.

Building and painting tips

Build the chassis first and let it set perfectly level on a flat board, so that the model stands on all its wheels. Separate thin parts such as the fenders, the running boards and the window frames with a saw rather than with nippers. It pays to spray the body with an airbrush: glossy period finishes call for a smooth surface, so sand the areas with fine abrasive paper before painting and lay down a primer. Go over the area with a gloss clear coat before the decals and knock it back once dry. Finish the interior and the seats before you close the cabin, because you can no longer reach them through the glazing.

Who the model is for

  • Modelers of historic civilian vehicles and veterans.
  • Builders of dioramas from before the First World War and from the years 1914 to 1918.
  • Anyone interested in 1:35 scale, where the car can be combined with figures.
  • Modelers who want to try gloss paintwork and fine wire detail.

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

It is not. It is an unassembled and unpainted plastic kit; glue and paints are not included in the package.

Yes, 1:35 is the most widespread scale for both figures and ground vehicles, so they can be built into a shared scene.

The number of parts and the extent of the decal sheet are given on the packaging and in the manufacturer's instructions.

The car has small, thin parts, so it is better to have a few finished models behind you. A sharp cutter, a saw and a steady hand matter more here than experience.
