An injection-molded plastic kit of the German experimental self-propelled anti-aircraft vehicle with the 8.8 cm Flak 41 on a special chassis designated Pz.Sfl. IVc, in 1:35 scale from Bronco. It is a prototype that never reached series production, and therefore an exceptionally unusual subject.
The German army wanted to get the heavy 8.8 cm gun onto a tracked chassis so that it could accompany advancing units. A special chassis was built for the purpose, with the gun mounted on an open platform with drop sides: when firing, the sides folded down and the crew gained room to work around the weapon. Only prototypes were built and the project stalled, because the vehicle was large, costly to build and came too late. The surviving examples went into action in the closing stages of the war more out of necessity than according to plan.
The open platform with the drop sides is what is characteristic about this vehicle: decide at the start whether you will build the sides folded down or raised. Finish and paint the inside of the platform and the gun before you close the assembly up, because with the sides folded down everything is visible. Set the long barrel true to the axis and drill out the muzzle if it is not open. Fit the track only once the running gear is painted. Spent cartridge cases on the platform give the scene some action.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
