AFV Club Japanese submarine I-58 is a plastic kit of the famous submarine of the Imperial Japanese Navy in 1:350 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit from AFV Club represents the Japanese ocean-going submarine I-58 of the Second World War in 1:350 scale. The model can be built as a full-hull variant or as a waterline model, and photo-etched metal for the fine details is included in the package.
The I-58 was one of the large Japanese ocean-going submarines with a long range, designed for operations in the vast Pacific. Toward the end of the war she was modified to carry Kaiten manned torpedoes on deck, one of the expressions of the desperate Japanese tactics of that time. She went down in history for sinking the American heavy cruiser USS Indianapolis at the end of July 1945, one of the most tragic losses of the US Navy in the war in the Pacific.
Decide between the full-hull and the waterline variant in advance. Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and the fine photo-etched items with cyanoacrylate. The hull is best sprayed with an airbrush, and smooth transitions of shade are managed with a fine spray. Complete a full-hull model with a suitable stand; the waterline variant can be set into a diorama with a water surface.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
