A plastic kit of the American aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford CVN-78 in 1:350 scale from Trumpeter.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the most modern American aircraft carrier in 1:350 scale from Trumpeter. It is a large glued model to be assembled and painted, and its dimensions put it among the biggest things that can be built in this scale. The model is meant for more experienced builders.
The USS Gerald R. Ford CVN-78 is the lead ship of a new class of American nuclear-powered aircraft carriers that are replacing the older Nimitz class. She entered service in 2017. She differs from her predecessors in a number of fundamental features: aircraft are launched by an electromagnetic catapult instead of a steam one, a new system takes care of arresting them on landing, and the island is smaller and moved further aft, which freed up more room for handling aircraft on deck. The aim of these changes was to increase the number of launches per day and to reduce the size of the crew.
On a model of this size, first make sure that the flight deck sits without strain, and glue it on a flat surface. Paint the deck separately from the hull and apply the markings onto a smooth base, otherwise the edges of the decals will show. Bring the dark surface of the deck to life with a fine lightening and by suggesting traces of operations around the catapults and the elevators. Add dark running into the engraved lines on the gray surfaces of the hull. Leave the antennas and the radars for the end and think out in advance where the finished model will stand.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
