1:48 Culver PQ-14 (All Versions) Painting Mask Double-Sided: a double-sided mask set from Clear Prop Models for cleanly painting the glazing frames on a model of the American target aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
A mask set from the Clear Prop Models brand, cut for the Culver PQ-14 target aircraft kits from the same maker, and according to the name for all the versions released. The Double-Sided designation means that masking the clear parts from the outer and the inner side is reckoned with: the canopy frames thus get the matching shade even when you look into an open cockpit, which markedly lifts the overall impression of the finished model.
The Culver PQ-14 was an American radio-controlled training target of the Second World War years, derived in design from the Culver Cadet light sports plane. The Army Air Forces used it to train anti-aircraft gunners, and with the Navy it flew under the designation TD2C-1. The machines had a largely wooden structure and were given striking finishes so as to be clearly visible during live firing; that is exactly why the PQ-14 is a rewarding subject in color terms and impossible to overlook on a display shelf.
Degrease the surface of the model before applying them and move the individual shapes with tweezers. Press the edges down lightly with a toothpick or a soft spatula so that the paint does not seep under, and spray in several thin coats. Take the templates off gradually and at a sharp angle, ideally shortly after the last coat of paint has flashed off.
