This is a sheet of national markings, that is of roundels. They are not airframe technical stencils, tail codes or serial numbers, and the sheet is not tied to one particular machine. The manufacturer describes it as the Starter Pack of the range; the other sheets in the same range are divided by the diameter of the roundel: ADD48C050-1 for 48 inches, 24 inches, 16 and 30 inches, 84 inches, 36 inches, and one for the untypical sizes of 42, 28, 22 and 20 inches. Check the extent of the set on the box.
After World War II the Royal Canadian Air Force put a maple leaf in the center of its roundel and thereby set itself apart from the British marking. Canadian machines carried the silver leaf right up to 1965, when the red leaf of the new Canadian national flag took its place. The diameter of the roundel differed according to the type of aircraft and according to the position on the airframe, and that is exactly why the individual sizes are sold separately.
Decals hold best on a smoothed gloss varnish base. Trim the carrier film close to the artwork, soak the sheet in water and slide the motif into place. A decal fixer and a decal softener applied with a brush will settle it into a broken surface: the fixer before it settles, the softener only once the motif is exactly where it should be. Varnish over once it is completely dry.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
