An injection-molded plastic model of the upgraded General Dynamics F-16A MLU fighter in Ukrainian service, in 1:48 scale from Kinetic. The box is richly equipped: positionable flaps and slats, a detailed cockpit, full intake trunking and well-detailed landing gear bays, plus photo-etched sheet and clear parts. Armament and external stores are included as well - auxiliary fuel tanks, air-to-air missiles and guided munitions, including targeting and jamming pods. The exact part count is not stated here.
The General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon (nicknamed the Viper) is one of the most widespread modern Western-built fighters. The MLU (Mid-Life Update) program was an upgrade of the European single-seat F-16As that brought the aircraft new avionics and combat capabilities and extended its life. Machines to this standard also reached the Ukrainian Air Force, where they carry out air defense duties. The F-16 is a light, agile multirole fighter with a single engine.
Glue the plastic parts with a thin modeling cement for plastic and the photo-etched parts with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Assemble and paint the cockpit and the intake before you close the fuselage. Fit the canopy glazing only after the frames have been painted and protect it with masking tape. Apply a primer before painting, spray modern gray schemes with an airbrush in thin coats and bring out the panel lines with a flowing wash. Paint the external stores separately and fit them at the very end.
