1:48 Gloster E28/39 Pioneer PE parts is a Clear Prop Models photo-etched set for detailing a model of the first British jet aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set from Clear Prop Models adds to a plastic model thin metal pieces of a kind that cannot be made by injection molding. Typically these are places where sheet metal was used on the real machine, that is the interior fittings of the pilot's compartment and small elements on the surface of the airframe. The package does not contain the aircraft; it assumes you already have the kit.
The Gloster E28/39, nicknamed the Pioneer, first flew in May 1941 and was the first British design powered by a jet engine. It carried a unit designed by Frank Whittle and from the outset it was purely a test machine, not a fighter. Only two were built, but the experience from them led directly to the first British combat jet type. The fuselage with a circular air intake in the nose and a straight wing give the aircraft a shape no later British machine repeated.
Lay the fret on glass or hard plastic and cut the parts off with a drawing stroke, not with pressure. Most of the bends have a scored line, which always belongs on the inside of the bend. Put the prepared pieces into a jar lid, or they will scatter across the table. Apply paint for metal over a primer, which has the adhesion needed on a smooth surface.
The set serves as equipment for a model, not as a replacement for it.
