An injection-molded plastic kit of the carrier-borne early warning aircraft in the Hawkeye 2000 form, in a boxing devoted to the US Navy squadron VAW-115, nicknamed the Liberty Bells. The Kinetic brand builds sets with a finely broken-down parts layout, and on this type that matters, because the aircraft has a complex mounting for its rotating radar dome and a folding wing. Neither the part count nor the number of decal schemes is stated by the manufacturer.
The E-2 Hawkeye is a carrier-borne aircraft that fills the role of airborne radar over an aircraft carrier: in the rotating dome above its fuselage it carries antennas that let it see air and surface targets far beyond the horizon of the escorting vessels. Two turboprop engines and a folding wing allow it to work from a deck. The Hawkeye 2000 form received modernized electronics and new operator workstations. Squadron VAW-115 was deployed in the Pacific over a long period and its machines carried striking colorful markings.
The most demanding parts are the radar dome and its supports: test-fit dry and check that the dome sits level, because any tilt shows at once. Finish the cockpit and the interior of the operators' station before you close up the fuselage. Carrier aircraft tend to show pronounced wear: after the base gray shades give the surfaces a filter, the panel lines a wash and the area around the arrestor hook some chipping. Apply the striking colorful squadron markings over a gloss base.
