Aviaeology AOD48S07 is a sheet of technical stencils and maintenance data for the Hawker Hurricane in 1:48 scale, the second part of the series devoted to night fighter machines.

A sheet from the technical stencil series: the small maintenance, service and warning notices on the airframe of the Hurricane, this time the second part of the series intended for night fighter machines. It is not a kit and these are not national insignia - roundels, squadron codes and serial numbers are not on the sheet. The distinction is clear here: the manufacturer itself does not recommend the first part of the series for the all-black night finish, because dark stencils would disappear on a black airframe, and night machines therefore got a sheet of their own. Check the exact extent on the box.
The Hawker Hurricane was the first RAF monoplane fighter to enter service in larger numbers, and from the winter between 1940 and 1941 it also became a night fighter and a night intruder. The machines were given an all-black finish, later dark camouflage, and flew over England and over the occupied coast against German bombers and transport. On a black airframe the lettering was applied in lighter or dull red shades, or else it would not have been legible - and that is exactly how the night stencils differ from the daytime ones.
On a black, mostly matte finish the decals need to be seated on gloss varnish, or the edge of the carrier film will whiten - on a night machine that shows most of all. Cut the stencils out one at a time, work with tweezers and apply them only after the roundels and the codes. A diluted softener will seat the decal into the fabric panels; at the end seal with a matte varnish so that the black finish stays matte.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
