A cast figure of a pilot of the German Focke-Wulf Fw 190 fighter in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Plusmodel. A figure by the cockpit or by the wing gives a model scale at once and turns a static exhibit into a moment that is happening right now. On a type with as characteristic a fuselage shape as the Fw 190 that works particularly well.
The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 was created as a complement to the Messerschmitt Bf 109 and in many respects surpassed it. The early versions were powered by the BMW 801 fourteen-cylinder radial, while the later D series received the liquid-cooled Junkers Jumo 213 inverted V12, which changed the shape of the nose as well. German fighter pilots wore leather or fabric helmets, oxygen masks and life vests.
Wash the figure in lukewarm water with detergent, cut the casting block off with a saw and glue it with cyanoacrylate. Paint the flying jacket with a dark base and bring only the folds out with a lighter tone. Set the oxygen mask and the helmet apart by their finish: leather slightly glossy, fabric semi-matte. Leave the life vest in a deep shade. In 1:48 scale a grown figure works out at about three and a half centimeters.
The figure is supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and the model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
