The Clear Prop Models 1:48 Polikarpov I-16 late version painting mask for a model of the Soviet fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
A painting mask from the Clear Prop Models brand in 1:48 scale for a model of the Soviet Polikarpov I-16 fighter in its late form. It covers the areas that are not to take paint during spraying, so that they stay clean and with a crisp edge. The package is an aid to painting; you will not find the aircraft in it.
The I-16 was the first series-built low-wing monoplane with retractable landing gear. Its barrel-like fuselage with a radial engine earned it the nicknames Rata and Mosca in Spain and Ishak at home. It proved itself in combat in Spain, at Khalkhin Gol and in China, and as late as 1941 it made up a substantial part of the Soviet fighter units. The later production types differ from the first series in the treatment of the cockpit and in a more powerful engine.
Clear the surface of grease and fingerprints before covering it. Place the individual shapes dry first, check the position and only then press them down with a soft stick. Apply the paint from the edge of the mask inward, so that the stream cannot blow under it. Once it has set, take the mask off by pulling at an angle across the edge, not straight up.
The set serves for painting a model already obtained and is not a kit in its own right.
