This is an injection-molded plastic kit of the Italian light training and aerobatic aircraft SIAI-Marchetti SF.260 in 1:48 scale, from a new Special Hobby tooling. The box is built around several sprues of injection-molded plastic and a clear part for the glazing; the decal sheet covers the M, AM and W versions in the markings of several countries. The exact parts count and the number of marking options are not stated here.
The SF.260 is an elegant all-metal low-wing monoplane designed by the Italian engineer Stelio Frati. It became famous for its excellent flying qualities and agility, thanks to which it spread all over the world as a sporting, training and light combat machine. The armed W version and the military M and AM versions carried stores under the wings and served for basic training as well as light combat duties with a number of air forces.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic. Finish the cockpit before closing the fuselage, mask the glazing and varnish it last of all. Apply a primer and even out the surface with a gloss coat before the decals. Training machines often carry striking color schemes; a fine wash in the engraved lines and a matte or satin coat give the model the right look. Take note of the stores on the armed versions.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
